SOME FACTS ABOUT THE NEW YOUTH BUILDING

“Busy Bees is NOT a business”
Busy Bees is a registered charity and not run for profit. Any surpluses are invested directly back into the pre-school to enhance the education and care of the children.

“There are more than 30 babies in the village”

There are currently 166 children under school age who would be eligible for childcare.

“The new building is not in competition with the Fieldgate Centre”
The new building is not in competition with any other community facility and will not be available to hire. This is a condition of the planning consent.

“We do have enough money to build it”
We do! The total amount raised is £595,000 made up from grants from Hampshire County Council, SEEDA, and from funds contributed by Kingsclere Youth Club, Busy Bees Pre-school, Kingsclere Football Club, and funds from the sale of land, which was specifically for the Holding Field.

“The building will not take up half of the field”
The building occupies 0.1 acre, which is smaller than the tennis courts and will take up less than 2% of the field. The tennis courts are 1200sq metres larger than the new building area. It is sited in the northeast corner, and does not interfere with the football pitches or the cricket surface. The Planning Office & Conservation Officer of Basingstoke and Deane have approved its position.

“We can still protect our ‘open spaces’
As you can see from the plan, the building is in a corner of the Holding Field adjacent to the previous youth building does not encroach on the existing facilities.
