The Role of the Busy Bees

Pre-School Committee 

Busy Bees Pre-School is managed and run by its Committee. As the Pre-School is a charity all Committee members are its trustees and responsible for the well - being and safety of the pre-School, its staff and children. Committee members meet monthly at a member's house and they discuss all aspect of the Pre-School. The Committee is also responsible for fundraising for toys and equipment which in current times the Pre-School cannot afford out of it's fee income.

The Chairperson - Jo Gunter

The chairperson is an Officer of the Committee and is the Pre-School's registered person and as such has the ultimate responsibility for the Pre-School. The Chairperson liases closely with the Manager of the Pre-School and assists in the day- to- day management. The Chairperson also works in partnership with the Financial Administrator to ensure the financial well being of the Pre-School.

The Vice Chairperson - Jayne Thompson

The Vice Chairperson is an Officer of the Committee and works closely with the Chairperson, the Manager and the Financial Administrator to help the smooth running of the Pre-School.

The Secretary - Lesley Dudman

The Secretary is an Officer of the Committee and responsible for the Committee's administration including taking the minutes at Committee meetings and distributing them.

In addition to the above posts committee members fall into the following sub - Committees:

Premises / Health and Safety, Events, Publicity

Premises / Health and Safety - Gemma Elliott

This sub Committee is vital in maintaining a safe and clean environment for the children and Staff. It involves forming a good relationship with our landlords The Scout Committee so that any faults with the building are remedied quickly and also it involves knowing the regulations regarding Health and Safety and being able to implement them on behalf of the Pre-School. The role of Health and Safety Officer is a complex one and involves a lot of time and commitment on behalf of the Committee member.

Events - Jo Gunter, Lesley Dudman, Amanda Bates, Amanda Keable, Jayne Thompson, Gemma Elliott

This sub committee organises fundraising events such as the Toy Sale or Jumble Sale. Normally such events are manned by as many of the Committee that are free on the day. All money raised by events is put into the Fundraising Account and then ultimately spent on the Toys and Equipment the Staff and Committee would like the Pre-School to have. - Currently 50% of all money raised will be put towards the new Youth Building - See News for more information.

Publicity - Amanda Keable, Jayne Thompson

This Sub Committee is responsible for the publicising of the events that the Pre-School holds as well as the newsletters that go out each half term. They are also responsible for the article in The Tower that is produced monthly.
